Novel Nic

I quit!

Stressing, that is. I’ve stressed about writing a novel in a month for several weeks now, and where has it gotten me? No where. Why was I stressing, anyway?

I am beginning my novel in about six hours. Inhale. Exhale. I just need to continue doing that, and I’ll be just fine. I’m sure that I’ll feel pressure as the deadline approaches, but I’m not going to let it overwhelm me and take the fun out of the experience. I’m going to write a book in thirty days! Now, that’s something to be excited about!!

Below is a check list I created a few weeks ago--in preparation for Nanowrimo.

+    Choose a genre for your story.
+    Choose a title for your story.
+    Choose a point of view.
+    Name the main characters, as well as supporting characters.
+    Write a brief summary/description of each character.
+    Choose a theme you plan to use throughout your story.
+    Do you have ideas on how your chapters will flow?
x    Do you have an outline?
+    Do you have an idea how your story will end?
+ Do you have people to support you during Nanowrimo?
+ Do you have write-ins scheduled?
+ Plan a reward for all your hard work!

I see a bunch of plus signs there. What is there to stress about, one measly x? My outline isn’t complete. So what! I’ve never outlined a story before. One cracked egg doesn’t ruin a whole dozen, right?

In six hours, my novel-writing will begin. I’ll escape into the reality of imagination, where newly created characters will come to life. I can barely wait to greet them!

Good luck, break a leg, I'm not sure about the right thing to say to encourage a writer, so I will just say...Know that I am thinking about you and praying for you! Love you lots friend! :)

  2. Hey, I don't have an outline either. I think the term for us is, PANTSERS!
    I think I need suspenders.
