Writer's Block

I listen to the clock – tick tock
My knuckles on the desk – I knock
Repetitious rhythm – I mock
My leather office chair – I rock

The candy dish is empty – restock
Turn on the XM station – punk rock
Try to balance my check book – shell shock
Watch traffic from my window – gridlock

My legs are getting stiff – I need a walk
An unproductive day – it’s four o’clock
My brain won’t seem to work – on safety lock
I’m trying to exhaust – my writer’s block
