First Date, by Krista McGee
Who is chosen to go on a reality TV show to win a date to the prom with Jonathan Jackson? Addy Davidson. She didn’t audition for it, and would rather focus on her schoolwork.
Oh, and did I tell you Jonathan is the son of the President of the United States? Addy certainly doesn’t like being center of attention, so dating the son of the President certainly isn’t on her agenda! She’s a plain-jane daughter of missionaries whose main focus is getting a college scholarship so she can get into an Ivy League school. She’s studious girl from a Christian school, and has never even been on a date.
Who purposely tries to be eliminated? You guessed it! Addy Davidson. But then…Wham! She sees the most handsome guy she’s ever laid eyes on, and everything changes. You guessed it again—Jonathan Jackson is hot!
Who is in a heap of trouble? Yup…Addy. Other contestants don’t like her, and the producer and host scheme to get her off the show. (Some of this is due to her Christianity—which she is reluctant to let anyone know.)
So what happens? Well, I’m not going to tell you that! You’ll have to guess. Or read the book!
This story shows teens how and why we should share our faith. It’s a light-hearted, entertaining read with wonderful life-lessons. God uses many situations to reach and guide us.
