Look Me in the Eye is a fascinating peek
into a man’s life with Asperger’s. I’m actually friends with someone with
Asperger’s and am truly spellbound by the way her brain works. Like Autism,
there are many ‘types’ or ‘ranges’ of Asperger’s—some are more socially
accepted, some are seen as strange, bizarre, or even narcissistic. I find this
syndrome, and the people who have it, extraordinary brainiacal. (No, that’s not
an actual word—but I like it.)
There
are parts of the book (mainly the beginning) that didn’t capture my attention,
and I tended to scan, but most of this book is captivating. I cringed, laughed,
and studied as I learned about the life and mind of John Elder Robinson.
If
you know someone with Asperger’s, are intrigued about the workings of a genius
mind, and curious about the thought processes and nuances of an Aspergian, I
feel you’ll enjoy this read.
BloggingForBooks provided a copy of this book for my review.
