The author begins this book with a 'letter' to the reader, giving a personal and tragic event in her life that is both the inspiration for this book, and a showcase on how God uses all things for the good. I was moved and encouraged by this introduction.
I have to admit, I enjoy this book much more than I expected. I expected a list of women from the Bible, and the happenings in their time in history. What I didn't expect was a wonderful blend of memoir, devotions, explorations, inspirations, and affirmations.
Excerpt:
Instead of pigeonholing women the way society had, he looked at each woman as unique. No one ever heard Jesus trivialize one of their problems by calling it a "woman thing." ...What Jesus did was to focus his attention on each woman's greatest need, and then he met that need--in ways they never expected.
The Women Who Met Jesus is so much more than an account of women during the biblical era. It's a go-to, self-help, soul-edifying journey that will both inspire and renew your life and love.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through the Revell Reads blogger's program.
