A Reluctant Belle

I enjoy historical romance, southern romance, and stories with a  war setting. This book has all that, and also includes vibrant characters who aren't cookie cutter.

The beginning is a little slow, but Joelle is the reason I kept reading. The story builds up and the pacing improves as the story goes along. 

Joelle is an interesting and layered character. I wish the story centered more on her school, but Schuyler is a fun focus. Their relationship and ribbing is entertaining.

I definitely get the sense of the historical time and place and hope to read more stories with Civil War settings.
