I don’t read romantic suspense very often, but
when I do, I wonder why not? Elizabeth Goddard pulled me into this story very
quickly and intrigued me with her descriptive storytelling. I can picture her
scenes vividly and connect with her characters with ease.
Harper Reynolds is an interesting character. I
have some of the same interest as her (nature, photography, etc.) so I was able
to put myself in her shoes. But at the same time, I’m not a thrill-seeker, so in
that sense, I held my breath much of the time.
The opening scene engaged all my
senses—fragrant pine needles, the rumbling, rushing river, the massive muscles
of the bear, the sense of danger, the sound of a single gunshot, and the taste
of fear. Whew—and that’s just the first chapter!
The story is action-packed, full of tension,
and had me fully engaged. Great reading.
I received a complimentary copy of this book
from the publisher.
