This book sort of reads like non-fiction. Maybe because of the journal entries? Anyway, I like the style of writing and the atmosphere it emits.
Tea With Elephants is the first work I've read by this author and I like her writer's voice. The style and setting are so different than my usual reads that it pulled me in all the more.
Like Fern in the story, I enjoy journaling. It allows me to sift through my thoughts and brings me a little clarity--particularly in difficult times. I connected to Fern quite easily, but it was a little more taxing to relate to Lily. Still, I liked her.
I've never traveled to Africa, and never really thought about it either, but the setting is so unique that it feels like a character in itself. This is the first in a series, so I hope to read the next installment.
Thank you to Revell for my complimentary copy.
